Trekking Itinerary
Day 0: Arrival Kilimanjaro Airport - Moshi
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a Lake Zone Climbers & Safaris representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi (2,953 ft / 900 m). Here, you’ll meet your trekking group, enjoy dinner, and have a full briefing about the adventure ahead. An equipment check will also be done to ensure you have everything needed for the climb.

Day 1: Umbwe Gate (1,600 m) Umbwe Cave Camp (2,900 m)
Your journey starts with a scenic drive to Umbwe Gate for registration before entering the lush rainforest.
The trail is steep and narrow, quickly gaining altitude through dense forest filled with monkeys, birds, and rich vegetation.

Day 2: Umbwe Cave Camp → Barranco Camp (3,950 m)
As you ascend, the forest fades into heather and moorland, revealing dramatic views of valleys and ridges.
You will join the Machame Route before reaching the stunning Barranco Camp, located beneath the famous Barranco Wall.

After reaching the top, you’ll continue through rolling terrain to Karanga Camp. This shorter day helps your body adjust to the altitude.

Day 4: Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp (4,556 m)
Today you trek through the alpine desert to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit attempt.
You’ll arrive early to rest, enjoy a warm meal, and prepare for your midnight climb to the summit.

Day 5: Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) → Mweka Camp (3,100 m)
Your summit push begins around midnight. Slowly and steadily, you’ll climb to Stella Point, then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
After celebrating this incredible achievement, you will descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp.

Day 6: Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate → Moshi
