Trekking Overview:

The Marangu route, known as the "Coca-Cola" route, is popular for its relative comfort and the availability of hut accommodations along the way. This 6-day itinerary is ideal for those seeking a shorter yet rewarding ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro, offering a diverse range of landscapes and a memorable summit experience.

Trekking Itinerary

Arrival Day: Kilimanjaro (JRO) Airport - Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, transfer to your hotel in Moshi, and settle in for the night. Participate in a pre-climb briefing, gear check, and preparation at the hotel.

Accommodation: The Maridadi Hotel

Day 1: Marangu Gate - Mandara Hut

Drive from Moshi to Marangu Gate (1-2 hours), complete park formalities, and begin your trek through the dense rainforest, arriving at Mandara Hut (2,700 meters) after 3-4 hours.

Day 2: Mandara Hut - Horombo Hut

Trek from Mandara Hut through thinning rainforest into the moorland zone, with unique plant life and panoramic views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, reaching Horombo Hut (3,720 meters) after 5-7 hours.

Day 3: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut

Spend a full day and a second night at Horombo Huts. On this day, you can either rest at the huts or take a stroll up to the Mawenzi base camp and then return to the Horombo Huts. This extra day will help your acclimatization and further your understanding of the mountain’s weather and altitude. After your pause, you will continue up to the Kibo Huts on your fourth day for your midnight start to the summit.

Day 4: Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut

Continue trekking through alpine desert terrain, crossing the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, and arrive at Kibo Hut (4,700 meters) after 6-8 hours. Spend the evening resting, hydrating, and preparing for the summit attempt.

Accommodation: Kibo Hut

Day 5: Summit Day - Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak, then Descend to Horombo Hut

Begin your summit attempt around midnight, trekking through challenging terrain to Gilman's Point (5,681 meters) and reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) at sunrise. After summiting, descend back to Kibo Hut for a rest and breakfast, then continue to Horombo Hut. The total trekking time is 11-15 hours.

Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate

Descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you'll receive your summit certificates. Celebrate your achievement with a transfer back to Moshi/Arusha, followed by a well-deserved meal.

Accommodation: Hotel in Moshi (depending on travel plans)

Payment Terms

Deposit Payment

Deposit is 20% of the total booking amount.
Deposit can be paid either via a bank transfer or an online card payment.
A 5% fee is applicable on all card payments (payment gateway charges), this is non-refundable.
We offer bank accounts in 10 different currencies for bank transfer.
Once you make the advance payment you will receive a booking confirmation.

Balance Payment

Balance can be paid via bank transfer, online card payment, or with cash.
Bank payment can be done 15 days prior to the tour date (recommended 30 days prior).
Card Payment can be done 1 day prior to the tour date (recommended 7 days prior).
A 5% fee is applicable on all card payments (payment gateway charge), this is non-refundable.
Cash can be paid on arrival (USD printed in or after the year 2009).
