A day trip to Ngorongoro Crater offers an unforgettable journey into one of the most wildlife-rich and scenic landscapes in Africa. Departing early from Moshi or Arusha, this trip takes you on a scenic drive through the Tanzanian countryside before arriving at the stunning Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The highlight of the day is descending into the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast caldera teeming with diverse wildlife, including lions, elephants, rhinos, and hippos.

Explore the crater floor on a guided game drive, stopping for a picnic lunch in the heart of nature. The crater’s unique ecosystem ensures abundant animal sightings, and the breathtaking landscapes, framed by the towering crater walls, make for incredible photography opportunities. After a full day of exploration and wildlife encounters, ascend from the crater and return to Moshi or Arusha, capping off an exhilarating safari experience.

Itinerary:

Early Morning:

Departure from Moshi/Arusha
Start your day before sunrise for a full day of adventure. Arrange transportation, whether through a tour operator or by hiring a private vehicle, ensuring you have ample time for wildlife viewing.

Mid-Morning:

​

Drive to Ngorongoro
The journey from Moshi or Arusha to Ngorongoro National Park takes around 3-4 hours. Enjoy the scenic countryside views, with glimpses of traditional villages, lush landscapes, and open savannahs.

Late Morning:

​

Arrival at Ngorongoro
Upon reaching the park, pay entrance fees and complete the necessary formalities. Begin your descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with breathtaking panoramic views as you descend into the crater floor. This 20-30 minute descent leads to a wildlife-rich haven.

Midday:

Game Drive
Spend the late morning and early afternoon exploring the crater’s diverse ecosystems on a game drive. Spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, zebras, hippos, and more, with your guide helping you track and identify wildlife. Ngorongoro is home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, making every moment exciting.

Picnic Lunch
At midday, stop at a designated picnic area within the crater for lunch. Most tour operators provide packed lunches, but confirm this in advance. Enjoy your meal amidst the spectacular surroundings.

Afternoon:

Continued Game Drive
After lunch, continue your game drive, exploring different areas of the crater to maximize your wildlife sightings. Look for elusive species like black rhinos, and enjoy the rich birdlife, including flamingos along the shores of the crater’s lake.

Late Afternoon:

​

Ascent from the Crater
As the afternoon winds down, begin your ascent back to the crater rim, soaking in the last views of the expansive landscape. The climb back takes around 20-30 minutes.

Departure


Head back to Moshi or Arusha, reflecting on the incredible day as you return in the evening, just in time for dinner.

Payment Terms​

Deposit Payment

  • Deposit is 20% of the total booking amount.

  • Deposit can be paid either via a bank transfer or an online card payment.

  • A 5% fee is applicable on all card payments (payment gateway charges), this is non-refundable.

  • We offer bank accounts in 10 different currencies for bank transfer.

  • Once you make the advance payment you will receive a booking confirmation.

Balance Payment

  • Balance can be paid via bank transfer, online card payment, or with cash.

  • Bank payment can be done 15 days prior to the tour date (recommended 30 days prior).

  • Card Payment can be done 1 day prior to the tour date (recommended 7 days prior).

  • A 5% fee is applicable on all card payments (payment gateway charge), this is non-refundable.

  • Cash can be paid on arrival (USD printed in or after the year 2009).

Cancellation Policy​

8 days and above departure

  • No cancellation fees.

​

0 to 7 days before departure

  • 50% of the total tour price will be charged as cancellation fees.

  • Trek can be postponed to any new date without any extra cost at any point in time.

  • The 5% surcharge paid for either or both advance and balance payments is non-refundable in case of cancellation of the trek.

Supplements

  • Solo Supplement = USD 30
    Charged for solo trekkers throughout the year.

  • Off-season supplement = USD 90
    Charged for solo trekkers looking to start a new departure in March, April, May, and November. Does not apply if you join an existing group. Does not apply if other trekkers also join your new group.
