7 Days Trekking Mount Kilimanjaro Via Umbwe Route

Embark on a thrilling 7-day trek via Kilimanjaro's Umbwe route. Ascend steep ridges and conquer the Barranco Wall. Summit Uhuru Peak, Africa's highest point, and descend through diverse landscapes. This challenging adventure promises breathtaking views and lasting memories.

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Moshi

  • Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport.

  • Transfer to your hotel in Moshi.

  • Meet with your trekking guide for a briefing and gear check.

  • Overnight stay in Moshi.

Day 2: Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp

  • Transfer from Moshi to Umbwe Gate (1-2 hours).

  • Begin trekking through dense forest.

  • Ascend steeply along a ridge to reach Umbwe Camp (2,943m).

  • Approx. 5-6 hours of hiking.

  • Overnight camping at Umbwe Camp.

Day 3: Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp

  • Depart from Umbwe Camp after breakfast.

  • Trek through the moorland and reach Barranco Valley.

  • Ascend the Barranco Wall, a challenging but exhilarating section.

  • Arrive at Barranco Camp (3,976m) for overnight camping.

  • Approx. 6-7 hours of hiking.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

  • Start the day with a descent into the Great Barranco, then ascend the Karanga Valley.

  • Enjoy stunning views of the southern glacier and the Breach Wall.

  • Arrive at Karanga Camp (3,995m) for overnight camping.

  • Approx. 4-5 hours of hiking.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

  • Trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt.

  • Ascend through alpine desert terrain.

  • Arrive at Barafu Camp (4,673m) in the afternoon.

  • Rest, hydrate, and prepare for the summit push.

  • Approx. 3-4 hours of hiking.

Day 6: Summit Day and Descent to Mweka Camp

  • Begin the summit attempt around midnight.

  • Ascend steeply to Stella Point (5,685m), then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa.

  • Watch the sunrise from the summit and celebrate your achievement.

  • Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and lunch.

  • Continue descending to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for overnight camping.

  • Approx. 11-15 hours of hiking.

Day 7: Descend to Mweka Gate and Departure

  • Descend from Mweka Camp through the forest to Mweka Gate.

  • Complete park formalities and receive your summit certificates.

  • Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved rest and celebration.

  • Departure from Kilimanjaro International Airport or onward travel arrangements.
